The film opens on Bwahoki burning after the reaping. Citizens are rebuilding the rubble and helping injured heroes. Hybrid is looking over the rubble from the top of a tower. Boundless appears behind him to thank him for defending Bwahoki. He realizes that hybrid is sad as he watches Christal clear the rubble in search for his dad’s body. Boundless reassures hybrid that all will be ok. He tells hybrid that there was once a time when his father died as well.
The scene changes through Antwan’s eye into his younger self at his father’s deathbed. Antwan appears to be a young man somewhere around 18-20. His father tells him that his impact on this world will be great, and that his impact will be grand through science and technology. As he’s about to die he whispers that Bwahoki isn’t fake, the stories he heard as a child were far from stories. The book of his father’s travels is in the attic. Just then, his father passes away.
Flash back to the present on the top of the roof as hybrid asks if that’s when he came to Bwahoki. If that’s when he turned the once secret jungle city into a well defended sanctuary He was never able to make a big impact . Antwan laughs and says not exactly. He says he studied his father's journal for many years after that and worked odd jobs in Durango instead of moving back to Mammothitus for school. (The whole time he’s narrating this there are little scenes sprinkled in showing what he’s explaining)
Eventually the scene shifts to a 26 year old Antwan who’s completely fed up with waiting. He uses all of his inheritance to buy gear and a plane ticket for Namibia (the closest country to Bwahoki). While in the airport, one of his father’s old military friends, Dave Osmond, sees Antwan and asks where he’s going, seeing that he’s frantic. Antwan says “you wouldn’t believe me if I told you” and says he’s in a hurry as he runs off. The military veteran calls someone and says "There’s a problem. A big one. Initiate "Operation Jungle”.
Hybrid asks in the current time, as the day has risen and a small group of Bwahokin children have began to gather, “well, what happened? How’d they know you were coming to Bwahoki? Who is he? How’d you get here from Namibia?” Antwan smiles again and calmly begins explaining everything that led to him finding Bwahoki.
Flash back to Antwan getting off the plane and reading his father’s writing. “After heading west until I could see a vast green jungle, I headed in for refuge from the heat, and a chance at finding water. I found much more than that. After finding shelter in a small cave, I was apprehended by what I believed were two very large men, but once brought into the light, they had the heads of elephants” Antwan followed suit and travelled for miles (74 on foot with very few supplies) before finding the jungle. He ran in and immediately fell unconscious on the jungle floor. He woke up to a large leopard sniffing him. He remained calm, all while thinking this is how he dies. Just as it opened its mouth and lunged at him to take a bite out of his torso, a horn blared and the lion ran away in fear. Antwan ran as well, because what could scare a lion? He turned around to look at what caused him to run in the first place and saw a large elephant head peer around a tree. He slowly approached and the Bwahokin warrior stood before him. The Bwahokin had the body of a very large human, but the head of an elephant, just as his father had wrote. She spoke in a slow, deep voice that could somehow translate to English in his head. She said “what are your intentions here? If you plan to hunt, you may hunt elsewhere. If you seek Bwahoki, you must leave”. Antwan spoke to her and said he seeks Bwahoki and will do anything to be accepted into the kingdom. The elephant lady, still shrouded in mist, said “you must battle our strongest warrior to the death. If you win, you may enter. If you lose, you shall be food for our hyenas” Antwan accepted instantly which shocked the scout “these precautions are only put in place for the safety of our village. the last foreigner who came into our gates killed many of our elders and escaped on a massive armored bird. Now, come and fight.”
Hybrid and the large crowd which had amassed were shocked at the story and had many questions like “what was the massive bird? And who was this mysterious traitor?” Antwan didn’t smile to these questions as he had in the past, instead he looked sad. “Well, I had to come to learn who this traitor was the hard way…anyways, back to the story”
We go back to see Antwan prepare to fight. He’s in front of a wall of weapons. He chooses two blades with flowing gems in their centers. “I’m ready. Take me into the ring.” The gate opens as Antwan is greeted with a roaring trumpeting of elephants. He holds his two blades up in the air as he shouts “let’s get this over with. Who am I fighting!?” A massive elephant, nearly twice the size of the one who found Antwan, with a spear and shield jumps into the ring from the audience. “My name is Yekmora. It is I who will send your soul to Nagol.” She pulls out a horn and lets out a horrifying blow. As the horn sounds, she throws it down and charges him from across the arena. He runs to a hill in the arena and begins to climb a small tree. Yekmora runs into it headfirst, pushing the entire tree over. “You can’t run forever foreigner, get down and fight”. She shouts as the tree crashes down with him in it. Little did Yekmora know, Antwan jumped onto her back as she pushed the tree over. He pierced one of the enchanted blades into her shoulder, which made her let out a shriek. He also slashed her eye with the other blade, but didn’t stick it in her head. She flung him off her back and ripped his shirt with her trunk, which cut his chest in the process. He looked down to see the deep gash across his chest, leaving his skin folded open. He got up with the support of the sword he still had and was immediately flung to the side as an angry Yekmora pummeled him into the ground over and over. “Is a measly stab and cut all you can give me?” She said as she stomped his chest into the ground. She pulled the blade out of her shoulder and was about to stab his heart as a young bwahokin said “HIS MARK. LOOK ABOVE HIS CUT. HE HAS THE MARK” Yekmora looked to the queen with her still good eye and the queen looked to her and let out 3 loud trumpets. The crowd was silent. The arena was rushed by Bwahokins, who were pushing Yekmora to the side and rushing to Antwan’s aid. He was extremely confused as they carried him out of the arena and into the central tree. Everything is blurry as Antwan is fading in and out of consciousness, but we hear that he “bares the mark of the tree” and that they must “carve it with the blade of Bwahoki”. They start carving his birthmark with a glowing purple dagger as he passes out.
While passed out he had a very strange dream. He was in a large field filled with animals and more bwahokins. Suddenly, all of the stars came together into the silhouette of a man. The man introduced himself as Nagol and said he knew exactly who Boundless was. He explained that he had been prophesized hundreds of years ago and that he would be Nagol's champion. He explained that the mark on his chest was the sign of Nagol, and matched the Rukongo Kalembe. Nagol told Antwan one more thing before he awakened, and that was his new name, Boundless.
He wakes up to find that he doesn’t feel injured at all, but rather extremely healthy. His mind raced with new inventions, new armor, new weapons, new cures, and even spells which he’d never heard of. As he goes outside everyone is staring at him in awe looking at his chest. He looks down to see his birth mark, glowing a deep purple and all of the veins branching out of it are also a glowing purple. He went to the village elder in confusion and happiness because he feels so great, but the elder says something he doesn’t understand. He tells Antwan that “you’ve always been like this, we just carved it into you. Now go, go and explore your new found inner peace and ability.” Antwan thanks the elder and runs back into the arena to start meditating. He opens his eyes minutes later to find he’s levitating nearly 50 feet in the air. He doesn’t sink when he opens his eyes, but rather starts to fly he looks down as he’s flying and sees that it’s because of the purple energy coming out of his hands that’s propelling him upward. He spends the whole day finding what he can do, finding that he can shoot this purple energy in blasts, use it to create force fields, and use it to increase the power of his fists.
He picked up both of the glowing blades he used in the arena to see if it could do the same. He them up and started using them like he’s been using swords his whole life, fully mastering the strategy. He also threw the sword and recalled it, because he found that the gem in the blade of Bwahoki is also the gem they carved him with which imbued him with his powers.
As the day turns to sunset, hundreds of helicopters fly in and a superhero jumped out of one of them. The village all run outside to see what’s going on. The elder that carved Antwan starts to yell, “the birds! They’re back! Everyone seek shelter. This man betrayed us. We gave him power and he betrayed us just like the man we trusted before.” Antwan explained that whoever betrayed them before knew who the birds were and that he doesn’t know who these guys are, but he’ll try to get them to leave. Antwan approached the man who jumped out of the helicopter who was in a huge suit of armor
Antwan asked “who are you and what do you want in Bwahoki” and the soldier just laughed. “I’m agent bombshell, but you know me as Dave" he said as he took off his helmet to reveal that he was his father's friend Dave who he saw at the airport. He continued "and that’s funny of you to ask. We needed to wait for you to come here until we could. We had no way of knowing how to get here, so we followed you. Your dad didn’t tell us too much. Only that he had to kill a few of these elephant dudes to get this metal. Which, oh yeah…I’m wearing. We picked your pa up many miles outside of this jungle. For some reason he never told us how to get back. Maybe it was guilt, maybe it was just him forgetting. Who knows, but anyways, Antwan. You have one chance to leave this place as a citizen of the United States of America. If you stand with this tribe, we’ll treat you like we’re about to treat them. So. what will it be?”
Hybrid interjects “WAIT. Your DAD?!? He was the traitor!!? Oh man! That’s horrible” the crowd murmurs and Antwan brings them to silence by saying “yes. It was my father. And although he betrayed you all. I’m grateful that he never told them where you were located. I believe it was the guilt of what he’d done. His blood is forever on my hands and Its my debt to repay you for him. I vowed that I will defend you all until I can no longer breathe and I intend to stay true to my word.” The crowd started roaring with applause and excitement before Antwan said “well…do you want to hear what happened next?”
Flashback to Antwan standing there stunned. He manages to say “I stand here. I stand with them” as agent bombshell gives a hand signal to the helicopters to seize the village. Bombshell says “alright. You’re now officially under arrest as a -“ boundless shoots a purple energy blast that fires agent bombshell dozens of feet backwards. “This should be fun” he says as he stands up to fight. The battle commences as the helicopters start to open fire and bombshell aims his arm cannon at boundless. Boundless shields himself in the purple energy and flies up to one of the helicopters. He throws one of his blades through the windows and the chopper explodes as the sword goes through it and is immediately recalled to Antwan’s hand. He continues to fly at high speeds as he does this to all of the helicopters. Yekmora, who was Boundless's test opponent jumps into action, trying to attack Bombshell. Agent Bombshell easily punches her back hundreds of feet before he manages to shoot Boundless with a tank round that does enough impact to break Antwan’s shield momentarily. Antwan crashes to the ground as he tries to get his power back. Bombshell walks over to him and points his cannon at Antwan’s face. “I didn’t want it to end like this junior. I really didn’t.” He says as he charges up his cannon aiming to kill Antwan. Antwan realizes that he never recalled his sword which he does and the sword stabs bombshell in the back. “But….how…these are the same metals” bombshell says as the sword stays in his back “your metal doesn’t possess the power of this place…it’s not just the metal that matters, but the power within it that you must come to find.” Antwan says as he pulls the sword out of the man's back, killing him. A loud trumpeting cry pierces the thick air as a female Bwahokin pulls the queen out of the rubble of one of the buildings. Slowly, the rest of the Bwahokins came out from their shelter as they kneeled to the fallen queen. Antwan turns around to see agent bombshell has disappeared and one sole helicopter is flying away. He looks at his blade and looks back up to the helicopter but decides not to throw it.
The next day the Bwahokins bury the queen under “Rukongo Kalembe” or “The ancestral tree” that stands in the center of Bwahoki. In a dark funeral, you see Yekmora, smirking in the back. The soldiers have the crown and are presenting the next to be elder. It goes to Antwan. In rage she hurls a spear at him as he goes up to accept the crown. “I am the heir. If you truly want to invest your futures in a tale, have at it, but if not you won’t let this foreigner take the crown.” One of the medical bwahokins who’d been helping Antwan said it’s far from a tale. “The prophecy spoke of a warrior who would save our kingdom. And that he did.” She said. Yekmora exclaimed “I killed the queen. For I deserve the crown…she would’ve died in the invasion, so I did everyone a favor by sending us into a new age after the invasion…the age of fire…the age of me” the crowd was silent. Antwan grabbed the crown and threw it to her saying “is that what you want? Take it. It’s meaningless. The crown isn’t an object…it’s a symbol of who is in charge. And clearly, you are not.” Yekmora looked at the crown, covered in dirt, and let out a yell of anger as she ran into the jungle.
A montage of boundless rebuilding Bwahoki with metal infrastructure plays as it shifts back to the modern day. The entire village of Bwahoki is now listening to him tell the story and it slowly pans out as the last bit of smoke clears.
